01. Clothes for now and for later
Winter offers some of the most diverse seasonal experiences. During the summer, we’re more or less all doing the same thing regardless of where we are - taking family vacations, enjoying warmer weather, and striving to be near the water. However in winter, what you’re doing and what you’re wearing depends on so much, but location is at the top of the list. Northerners like myself spend winter wrapped head to toe in layers (cashmere!) and slog through endless snow and ice, while some of my Southern friends may not remember the last time they saw snow.
Not only that, but some people choose to stay home and hunker down for the winter hygge style, while others use this time to escape the cold every chance they get through travel. It’s a season that is particularly fun to design for, especially as someone who strives to create pieces that are as versatile as possible. While I desire for all of my collections to contain pieces you can enjoy during multiple seasons, the Resort Collection may truly be the one best suited for both immediate and postponed enjoyment.
If you do have a trip planned, it’s full of light and beautiful pieces that are perfect for winter getaways. If you are staying put for the holidays and beyond, the Resort Collection is a blend of transitional pieces and true staples you’ll be able to incorporate into your year-round repertoire for many seasons to come.
02. Same thing, different font.
This collection is chock full of our tried-and-true, beautiful Italian silks you know and love as well as a few fabrics that I can’t wait to introduce you to. If you’ve shopped any prior collections, you’ll find new colors of our signature silk fabric used in bestselling silhouettes like the Eleanor Shirt Dress, Eleanor Shirt, Danielle Caftan, and Jill Trousers. As far as what’s new, there is an array of new tweeds sourced from a French mill that a certain major fashion house works with regularly. Working with them has been a bit of a pinch-me moment as the level of quality goes without saying and they are extremely exclusive in who they work with. I am honored to have had the experience to work with them and thrilled to be able to share the end product with you. The two colorways, Viva La Tweed and Confetti Tweed, marry the elegant and fun essence of resortwear, making for luxurious wearability. Last but never least is the cashmere. Regardless of where you winter, we all know that I am physically incapable of creating a collection without cashmere in it, and I believe it is a must-have piece for all. Ergo, I’ve rounded out the collection with two new shades of cashmere, Caribbean Blue and Raspberry. As with all Eleanor Leftwich cashmere, I consider them to be the ultimate staple piece as there is truly nothing as versatile.
03. Pairs Well With...
With so much care and quality woven into the fabrics (both literally and figuratively) of each piece, my hope is that every piece of Eleanor Leftwich clothing is a statement piece in its own right. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t love a well paired accessory to accentuate the look even more. Building your uniform may start with clothes, but it certainly extends to the rest of your outfit accoutrement, and your resort uniform is no exception. Whether a trip is in your near future or not, there’s no reason to not take advantage of holiday sales to stock up on things you’ll wear now and later. Starting from the ground up, I plan to pair the vast majority of the Resort collection (but especially the Poppy Eleanor Shirt Dress and the Viva La Tweed Paige Pants) with these kitten heels or my go-to espadrilles. When I travel, I always pack these shoes as the heels are small enough to fit easily in my carry-on and espadrilles are comfortable enough to wear for outings as well as dressy enough for dinners. Another statement piece worthy of uniform-level investment is a good belt. I obviously love a seasonal belt that complements a theme like this chunky gold shell belt styled with the Jill trousers, but for a year-round look, Cesoli has lots of classic belt buckles that are easily changeable depending on the season (and your mood!). As mentioned in previous blogs (and as evidenced by all my recent outfit photos), I am currently a big fan of Filgree Jewelers (especially the gold hoops) and would pair anything in the collection with them. Emily Kuvin Jewelry was kind enough to lend us her new Florette Collection which couldn’t have been more apropos for Resort!
My hope is that every piece of Eleanor Leftwich clothing is a statement piece in its own right.
